Last week I had the opportunity to attend an amazing event. For those of you who may not know what The Rising Tide Society is, I highly suggest you click that link and check out their site. Created by Natalie Franke and Krista Jones, The RTS is a way to empower and bring together small business owners and entrepreneurs in the spirit of #CommunityOverCompetition and it is a movement that I am proud to be a part of.

When Natalie and Krista launched the RTS earlier this year, I felt like it was literally a God-send. I was about to embark on a huge move across the country and would be attempting to move my business. I would be in a strange place with no connections. With the introductions of #TuesdaysTogether both of those obstacles were almost completely removed. I now had an instant connection with like-minded individuals who are in the creative industry that I could get to know and learn from and connect with. Praise the Lord that the timing of all of this coincided!

Because of how everything is so spread out up here, there are a few different groups that I am within a few hours of. I mostly consider myself in the "North" Jersey group but there is a Princeton group about an hour south of me as well as some NY groups that aren't all that far away either. For September, a few different groups decided to get together and have an "end of summer" bash/picnic where we could ALL get together and get to know each other! This happened last Tuesday and it was a blast! I was so happy I was able to go.

The leaders of the three groups, Alissa, Laura and Tiffany got everything together and we had a picnic in a beautiful park. There was a styling table, everyone brought something to eat and some people had some headshots taken and we also played a quick round of "speed dating" to get to know everyone! Quite a few people attended and it was so great to meet so many ladies whose work I have admired online.

I'm so thankful for finding a "place" within the creative industry where working together and not against each other is celebrated and welcomed. Owning your own small business is hard and lonely at times, so the ability to talk to others and bounce ideas and just "relate" to each other is a huge blessing!
